Broad Street Wrington Cricket Club
Micky Ball Memorial Cricket Day
15th July 2007
Mid-summer in England. It rained all day!
Report by Phil Parker

9am The first gazebo is erected and moved into place
       …and others sprang up!
Covers had been placed for the first time in the club's living memory in an attempt to get some play, but the wicket never fully dried out to enable play at 3pm. It then rained and put paid to any hopes of play in the evening.  After lunchtime the U13’s were presented with the
North Somerset Plate by Andy Ball (and helper) following their victory over Clevedon in the Final two weeks earlier.
Some of the victorious side with the plate inscribed in Micky’s memory. This was the first silverware won by a Junior Team since Micky’s managed U15’s in 1995 and was a fitting tribute on the day.
The day’s cricket competition had to be decided by a series of bowl-outs. Each player having 3 balls at a set of stumps. The first semi-final. Wrington CC v Alvis Bros. Wrington CC Club Captain Tim Ledbury bowling…and missing! Wrington won.
Andy Ball has a go for Yeo Valley v Winscombe Rugby Club…...and misses!
Up steps Karen Ball, bowling underarm for Yeo Valley……
……and takes the plaudits from the two sides as she hits !!!
Up steps Matthew Ball……..
……with equal success acknowledged by his side. But despite their best endeavours, Winscombe Rugby club were too strong…
…and they duly won.
