Fete Champetre team 2004
Friday, 24th July, 2004
For the third time in five years residents of Wrington graced the National Trust Fete Champetre at Stourhead.

This year's theme and celebrating the 25th anniversary of the fete was 'Love is in the Air' so costumes appropriate to the event were a critical element.
Our first planning meeting took place on the 1st June 2004 when it was agreed that attendance as a 'bunch of roses' would be the order of the day.

A quick trip to Scrapstore, the acquisition of relevant materials, red balloon material, card, green gaffa tape and a range of sundries not relevant to the process but which just looked nice were acquired and it was away to go.

What followed were many weeks of evening and Friday afternoon sessions to produce the costumes for the eighteen party goers.
As the photographs show the consumption of wine during such meetings was essential for the team.
The group particularly wish to thank Andrea & Chris, John & Lynn and Wendy & Andy for the many hours spent creating the costumes
Roses made and distributed all that remained was to ensure that hampers were packed and all were on time for the bus.

Pursuing the theme of romance, the group by request managed to fit in the wedding of Alan Milne and Stephanie Collinge, who were no doubt surprised to exit the church to be greeted by roses of various shapes and sizes.
Having appeared as guests at the wedding, male members felt bold enough to ignore the likelihood of being seen by friends and retired to the Golden Lion. After a quick pint all set off for Stourhead and enjoyed a fabulous evening of entertainment and fireworks.         Report & photographs kindly supplied by Andy Tandy
