Vera Perry's slide show
Tuesday, 18th February, 2003
|Vera's two evenings of slides of Wrington old & new played to packed houses in the Reading Room.
Quite apart from the careful selection of slides - full of surprises - there was the vital preliminary of last-minute instructions for her projectionist, Pauline Wathen.
|The slides covered the period from the 1950s until the present day, and, as usual on these occasions, Vera ensured most people would recognise most faces - even relative newcomers would know quite a few.
Her meticulous planning (the tickets useful here ?) meant that most of her audience, too, made at least one appearance.
And then ... the "light refreshments" ...
|... and once the last crumb had been accounted for, and glass returned to the sink ....|
|... it was "quiet at the back ..." and Pauline recommenced her determined attempt to tame the - at times - recalcitrant projector.|
