John Locke's cottage

Destroyed in the late 19C, the cottage of his maternal grandmother, in which the philosopher John Locke was born,
by the north gate entrance
to All Saints' churchyard

John Locke's mother returned to her home in Publow shortly after his birth. There's a stone bust of him in the south porch of the church, and the tercentenary of his death was celebrated by a week of events in October, 2004.
