TWO artistic pupils at Wrington CE Primary School have won first and second prizes in a colouring competition organised by Weston College. Tom, a Year Five pupil, and Eleanor, in Year Two, were part of a school trip to ‘Puss In Boots’, performed by the College’s Performing Arts students on Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier.

Hundreds of children from across North Somerset entered a competition to colour in a picture of Puss In Boots himself, and judges picked Tom and Eleanor. Tom is now enjoying his first prize of an iPod shuffle, while Eleanor received a £20 One4All voucher.

Tom, 10, said: “I love colouring and enjoyed entering this competition - and winning it!” Eleanor, seven, added: “I love art and enjoyed colouring in Puss In Boots.”

Becky Matthews, from Wrington Primary’s senior leadership team, said: “All the children enjoyed the pantomime and having something to do afterwards. It was great to see the expression on Tom and Eleanor’s faces when they were told they’d won.”

Tom and Eleanor were presented with their prizes by Gill Fowkes, Weston College’s Head of Marketing.

Weston College is one of the top performing colleges in the south west. In January 2014 it was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ grade by Ofsted - the first FE College in the West of England to achieve such a grade under the new Common Inspection Framework.
