Some years ago, a group of domestic heating oil users in Wrington set up a consortium to take advantage of cheaper prices for bulk delivery of oil. If anyone is running low on oil, it is up to them ring around the group to find out whether anyone else also needs a delivery. Provided there is a total demand for say 7000 litres plus, it is normally possible to get a reasonable deal as the oil companies can deliver a tanker load with minimum fuel costs to themselves. It can also mean that you do get a useful reminder to top up your tank before you run too low. Just how good the price is depends on demand at that time and how good the person phoning is at negotiating a deal!
