Charity Lunch, 1st October

The soup stirrers ...

... the pud pushers ...

... the draw-ticket tearer ...

... and the bar boys

preparing to meet the onslaught when the doors of the Memorial Hall opened at 12 noon for this year's important charity event - to raise funds for Weston Hospice Care.

After the nosh, President Jean Pitt thanked all
who'd contributed to the occasion, and invited Rosemarie Hodges to demonstrate the WI's

latest acquisition, a magnificent Yamaha electronic piano, which had been bought out of a generous bequest made by former member Esmée MacLaren, a talented needlewoman, and for many years, the

rehearsal accompanist of Wrington Choral Society.

It is the WI's intention to offer the instrument for use by any musicians in the village, by prior arrangement.

The proceedings were concluded by the picking of the draw tickets by Dr Ann Dent, a Wrington resident, and trustee of Weston Hospice Care.
