Project News

If you would like to join the community allotment project come along to an open meeting at the Reading Room at 7.30 on Wednesday June 18th

COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE

If you are worried about increasing food costs, concerned about climate change and would like to have fresh local organic food, have you considered working with others to grow your own?

We are setting up a community agriculture group to produce more of our own organic food locally and to allow those of us who may not have the time or knowledge to do it by ourselves

Eliza at Wrington Greens has offered to set aside an area of her main field for a community allotment and pending us working out the final details we expect to be able to take it on in the autumn.

The allotment will not be divided into individual plots but will be cultivated by all of us as a group and the produce shared.

If you think this may be of interest please come to the meeting and join in the discussion!

Car Club

We are also in discussion with Dragonflyer mobility who support and administer the car clubs in Chew Magna and Stowey Sutton and hope VERY SOON to have a car (a very fuel efficient Citroen C1) based in Wrington.

Members of the club will be able to book and use this car for an hourly fee (we expect about £5.00 per hour). There are no other charges.

Eligibility criteria. You need to be between 21 and 75 with no more than 3 points on your licence. (There are also certain insurance claim criteria but we have yet to see the details of these)

There will also be a corporate membership for local businesses.

If you are interested please contact Phil Neve or Fred Cowgill.

Co-Housing

We will soon be holding an open meeting of the co-housing group. If you are interested in learning more about how this more community focussed way of living actually works please come along and join in!

Date and venue will be announced shortly.
