On Wednesday 10 September we played at the Woodlake Park Golf Club, Usk. At last the GLUGS god of good weather came with us. For those of you that don't know
Woodlake Park its is on top of the hill over looking Usk and the beautiful Usk reservoir so the views are outstanding.
It is probably one of the hardest courses we play as you have tilting boggy fairways and very fast undulating greens. We usually have buggies but as it was so wet it would have been unsafe so we had to walk.
We had a meal of a mild curry as a change from the usual roast. I think mild in Welsh has a different meaning to mild in English. There were some tired, red faces with runny noises around the table.
Heather had 33 points as the winning score and also the longest drive. Tony had nearest the pin; I won the weekend in Paris and £500 spending money for 2.
This month we welcomed 2 new members in Richard Blundon and his father in law Keith, who came second. We all then made it home to the Golden Lion to watch England
win at football 4 - 1. That ended a perfect day.
Owing to the bad weather, Natalie Webb's Charity Golf Day was moved to 15 September at Mendip Spring. John Webb has asked me to thank all of you that have supported him. I will let you all know in next months WJ how we got on.
We have 3 dates left this year:
8 Oct Wells,
12 Nov Cleeve Hill (Cheltenham) and
10 Dec Burnham and Berrow Christmas 3 Club competition
Hope you can join us at some of them.
