Broad Street Wrington VC Primary School
OFSTED Report, 2007

Wrington Church of England Primary School has been praised as "a good school with many outstanding features" by Ofsted inspectors. The inspectors awarded pupils' personal development and well-being, the curriculum and other activities and care, guidance and support with the highest rating of "outstanding".

Achievement and standards, teaching and learning, leadership and management and the overall effectiveness of the school were considered "good".

"The headteacher is an outstanding leader," says the report. "Together with a very strong deputy headteacher she has created a hard working and dedicated team of teaching and support staff who have high expectations of the pupils and themselves.

The report goes on to say: "Personal development and well-being are excellent as a result of the outstanding care, guidance and support that pupils receive. Pupils' growth in confidence, belief in themselves and eagerness to learn are superb and are significant factors in the excellent preparation for their future lives. "Their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding. The depth of the older pupils' discussions on spiritual issues, and on matters of right and wrong that affect the wider world, is quite staggering."

The inspectors said pupils' behaviour is "exemplary", teaching and learning are "good overall" and curriculum provision from reception class right through to year 6 is "excellent".

Headteacher Mrs Jane Thomas welcomed the report. She said: "Our school vision statement is 'Where children come first'. I am lucky to work in a school where the children and staff are totally committed to making each day an exciting learning adventure. I would like to thank them and everyone in the community for the support we always receive."

The School Governors added: “Congratulations to the Head Teacher, her team and of course most importantly to the children for the excellent Ofsted report. It reflects the tremendous development that the school has enjoyed since the last inspection.

We would like to highlight the work of the Headteacher, her leadership team and the whole of the teaching body for the standards of teaching they are delivering. As important are the non-teaching staff who provide huge support and help to ensure that the school functions as a vibrant and caring environment.

Finally and most importantly we must congratulate the children. In conclusion, as well as enjoying this result, we must also use it a springboard to future development with the building of a new school being the key aspiration.”
