A Grand Day Out - Garden Trail 2007 [photos]

I can't get over our good fortune regarding the weather. Sandwiched between two awful days of nearly continuous rain, we had a bright sunny day! Many people have told us that it was the best ever garden trail because of the range and beauty of the gardens. Both the lunches and the teas went very well and the village seemed to be full of people on foot going from one garden to another.

We raised the excellent sum of £850 which has been divided equally between 'Ethiopiaid' and 'Somewhere to go in Weston Ltd'. Most of you will know of the work of 'Ethiopiaid' but not so many about 'Somewhere to Go in Weston'. This is a drop-in centre in The Boulevard. It has a woman Chaplain in charge but is staffed by volunteers. It is open to all with a need and has already really made an impact on Weston.

I shall be writing individually to those who opened their gardens, but I would like to thank all of you who supported us by buying programmes and sharing lunch and tea. I think this event is a bit more than a fund-raiser, it is also, as Wallace would put it: 'A grand day out!'.
