Broad Street Wrington
PARISH COUNCIL

Entry in the current issue of the Village Journal

I know that some of us prefer a spell of colder weather in the Winter but, if it stays relatively calm and dry, the new play equipment should be installed on the Rec by the time you read this. Although the three items might even appeal to some adults, these are intended for our younger residents; we hope they will find them stimulating. They will certainly be different to what's in place at present.

We appreciate that it's not the best time of year, but we needed to complete the installation, so apologies if there's been any
disturbance to other users of the Rec during the construction phase, and for what might appear to be damage to the grass. This should be temporary with the contractor required to reinstate the ground. You will be pleased to hear that the Council hasn't needed to provide any funding for this project, as should be the case for a proposed extension to the skate park, although this is
unlikely to proceed for some time.

In common with many other town and parish councils, we are now intending to produce our own website. This will be closely linked with the excellent Wrington website, but will allow us to publish news and other material more immediately, with any particularly urgent information also posted on notice boards for access by those without internet access. An example is work on the Government's Localism Bill which will give local councils greater opportunities in the form of community rights and neighbourhood planning. We will obviously want to involve residents and business owners in our plans, especially the Neighbourhood Plan, and will explain more in the near future, both through the website and in our annual newsletter. As always, let us know if you have any thoughts on these and other matters.

David Glynn
