There were no declarations of interest.

3. Public Participation

There were no members of the public present.

4. Minutes of previous meeting

The minutes of the meeting held on 18th May were reviewed and signed as a correct record.

5. NSC South Area Planning Committee

The papers from 12th May were not available.

6. Decisions Notices issued by NSC

A list of recent Decision Notices had been circulated prior to the meeting. In relation to the decision on ‘Tamarisk’, the Committee noted that it was impossible to meet condition 6 on the notice due to it being pre-dated. Members questioned if this would now invalidate the decision notice. It was agreed to write to North Somerset Council about this, the Committee were particularly concerned that this had not been corrected as this very point had been raised in the South Area Committee meeting in May.

7. Planning Applications

10/P/0814/ADV – Plough Inn, High Street, Wrington – Advertisement consent to display 1 fascia and 1 freestanding illuminated signs.

Members discussed that Wrington Parish Council had in the past objected to illuminated signs within the Conservation Area and had successfully reached agreement with others not to erect illuminated signs. As this sign is adjacent to the village green and within the Conservation Area, members agreed that they would prefer not to have the sign illuminated. Members had no objection to the erection of the sign itself.

10/P/0835/WT – T1- Silver Birch – fell: 9 Yeomans Orchard, Wrington: It was agreed there was no objection to this application.

10/P/0758/F – Butts Cottage, 11 Butts Batch, Wrington: Erection of an extension to conservatory, a double garage and amendment to entrance from Butts Batch.

It was agreed that there was no objection to this application.

10/P/0760/CA - Butts Cottage, 11 Butts Batch, Wrington: Demolition of part of front boundary wall. It was agreed that there was no objection to this application.

10/P/0782/F – Chancellors Cottage, Long Lane, Wrington: Erection of a detached car barn (replacement garage and car port). It was agreed that there was no objection to this application.

10/P/0859/LB – 3 The Haydens, High Street, Wrington: Conversion of loft with staircase access and 4no room windows to rear roof slope. It was agreed that there was no objection to this application.

10/P/0864/F – Woodlands, Wrington Hill, Wrington: Erection of a two storey detached garage/store (Amendments to 07/P/2079/F). Members considered the drawings but found it difficult to identify the precise nature of the proposed amendments. It was agreed to resubmit the previous comments as members are particularly concerned about the potential for misuse of the garage/store for residential or commercial purposes.

10/P/0877/F – Homelea, Downside Road, Backwell: Erection of a two storey extension and a single storey side extension to replace outbuildings. It was agreed that there was no objection to this application.

10/P/0888/F – 1 The Cottage: Erection of a two storey rear extension.

Members concluded that the drawings submitted with this application were unclear on the extent of potential impact on neighbouring properties. It was agreed to ask NSC to investigate further to asses this impact.

10/P/0889/F – The Willings, Downside Road, Backwell: Erection of a single storey extension to South West elevation. It was agreed that there was no objection to this application.

8. Other Planning Issues

There were no other planning issues discussed.

The meeting was closed at 7.30pm.
