Broad Street Wrington ARCHIVE
Mary Wedlake's sampler

E-mail via the website from Alan Tuffnell for Trevor Wedlake, dated 23rd March, 2006:

"Hope you don't mind me contacting but I was wondering if the following person was an ancestor of yours and if you had any information regarding the couple. Mary Anne Wedlake b1831 Redhill who married Michael Coles b1826 Blagdon married Dec 1848 Wrington/Bedminster , I'm trying to find out who their parents were and brothers/sisters."

There then followed correspondence establishing a link, and finally this photograph and e-mail dated 19th June, 2006:
"I was wondering if you would be so kind as to forward the attachment to Trevor Wedlake for me I think he will find it very interesting as it is a picture of a piece of tapestry which was done by his grandmother Mary when she was 11 years old and I think he will agree that she was very talented at needlework.

It has only just been rediscovered after my mother-in-law (who is a Coles) was looking through some family memorabilia which had been passed down in the family.

Please thank him for me for info he sent me on Mary it was very interesting as it cleared up the mystery of who Michael Coles married.

Once again thank you for all the help you and Richard have given me it is much appreciated."
